Art History Students to Present Lectures

          HOLLAND -- On Wednesday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m.,
  three graduating art history majors at Hope College will be
  presenting their senior research papers in Cook Auditorium
  of the De Pree Art Center, located on Columbia Avenue at
  12th Street.
          The public is invited.  Admission is free.
          All three of the presentations will be
  illustrated.  The presenters are Derek Walvoord of Holland;
  Sarah McGaughey of Jenison; and Dan Benes of Ann Arbor.
          Walvoord's essay, "Frank Lloyd Wright:  The
  California Textile Block House," is a study of some of the
  American architect's lesser known and long-ignored
  buildings.  McGaughey, in her paper, "Anselm Kiefer:  A
  reunified Nation, An Artistic Rebirth," will discuss works
  by contemporary German artist Anselm Kiefer in the context
  of the division and subsequent reunification of Germany.
  Benes will present the work of 19th century German artist
  Adolph Menzel in his essay, "Adolph Menzel:  The
  Contradictions of His Works."
