Two Hope Hockey Players are All-Americans
Two members of the Hope hockey team have been named All-Americans by the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
Junior forward Chris Kunnen of Des Monies, Iowa and junior goalie Dave Kowicki of Littleton, Colo. have each received first team recognition. Kunnen during the regular season scored 23 goals and had 34 assists while Nowicki allowed opponents an average of just 1.69 goals per game.
The ACHA has also named eight members of the Hope team national academic scholars. They are sophomore Anthony Gasparotto of Novi, sophomore Jake Green of New Hudson, senior Will Guerin of Lansing, sophomore Andrew Haggerty of Novi, senior Brett Kopinski of Mishawaka, Ind., junior Chris Kunnen of DesMoiners, Iowa, junior David Nowicki of Littleton, Colo., and senior Kyle Plachta of Mattawan.
The Flying Dutchmen this season won a school record 28 games and finished second in the ACHA national tournament.
